History

Established in 1833.

Nestled in a quiet square north of the city centre, the Kavanagh family have been running this Public House since 1833. Seven generations, you’ll often find three generations working alongside each other. We believe it to be the longest generational pub in Dublin if not in Ireland!

Manager

Ciaran Kavanagh is Chef/Manager French trained in Switzerland. Ciaran travelled extensively and having successfully ran a restaurant in Emilia Romagna for eight years, he returned to Ireland to work with the family in John Kavanagh The Gravediggers. Creating a strong food provenance and a standard in customer service and quality food at a reasonable cost. Upgrading the already legendary establishment. Ciaran’s sister Anne Kavanagh is also on hand throughout the day.
