A splendid if rather late Victorian renovation wasput in place here by Thomas Gaffney around 1914 which still wears the patina of its years superbly. But while other victorian houses have been quite content to lose their sheen and gloss, this one has been quite constantly cared for and varnished and must therefore rank as Dublin’s best preserved Victorian pub…. Now take yourself into the bar and meet some real pint drinkers! Great conversationalists too who have a masterly grasp of all the thorny issues of the day.
