Dun Laoghaire Harbour Bicentenary
01 May – Tuesday 31 October 2017
Venue: Dún Laoghaire
Dún Laoghaire Harbour has been a place where relatives have waved off ships of emigrants, and where cruises have stopped off, heaving with eager tourists.
It has long has been a place of industry, tourism, and as its uses have changed, it has undergone facelifts, from rudimentary harbour to a modern hive of activity.
This festival will celebrate two hundred years of Dún Laoghaire harbour with history talks, contemporary art exhibitions, and even a live recording of the RTÉ Sunday Miscellany boasting stories, songs, and spoken word.
A highlight is sure to be the Dún Laoghaire Historical Society Exhibition as it explores the lives of the seaside townspeople and how they lived.
