In a research by STR travel research Company, they forecast that the average daily rate of Dublin hotel rooms it to up to 150 euro per day by 2021.
Representatives from the hotel industry were informed that UK visitor numbers are expected to decrease by 1.3% this year, while the number of travellers visiting Ireland from the US will increase by 8.7%.
In May, Dublin’s average daily room rate was just under €125 with an occupancy of approximately 80%. The former figure was lower than other European cities such as Amsterdam, Barcelona and London, while the latter figure was considerably higher than the European average of 67.7%.
Dublin’s revenue per room was up 7% on May of 2016, with occupancy in Ireland as a whole for the first five months of 2017 also being above the European average at 73.2%.
It is to be noted that during the first five months of 2017, the occupancy rates in Dublin exceded 90 % for in 38 ocassions, with 35 days in which occupancy rate dropped below 70 %.
